Welcome to Sitayana Yoga
Sitayana Yoga is a growing yoga community based in Grayshott on the Surrey/Hampshire borders. As well as providing yoga classes, you can also experience meditation, relaxation and if you have a deeper interest, there are monthly workshops which cover aspects of yoga philosophy.
Sitayana Yoga classes are based on traditional Hatha yoga classes, which use the physical body to bring about a feeling of balance and inner peace. This is achieved through using the breath as the connection between the body and the mind. Our informative, yet down to earth approach means that you can take as little or as much as you like from your yoga practice to meet your needs at that moment in time.
We’re often asked if Sitayana is a type or style of yoga. It is neither. The ancient yogic texts, known as “Vedas” date back to 3000 BC and were written in an ancient language called Sanskrit. This is still used today to describe the traditional names of yogic practices.
The word “sitayana” follows this tradition as it is a Sanskrit word which means “journey of thoughts”. This represents the journey that we take during our yoga practice and also off the mat in our day to day lives as we process the thoughts in our mind. This journey can be brief or it can be a lifelong journey of our spiritual and personal development. We just hope you enjoy your journey in this life as much as we do. Namaste. |
