Namaste

Welcome to Sitayana Yoga, a growing yoga and wellbeing community based in Grayshott on the Surrey/Hampshire borders. As well as providing yoga classes, you can also experience meditation, relaxation and if you have a deeper interest, there are monthly workshops which cover aspects of yoga philosophy.

Sitayana Yoga classes are based on traditional Hatha yoga classes, which use the physical body to bring about a feeling of balance and inner peace. This is achieved through using the breath as the connection between the body and the mind. Our informative, yet down to earth approach means that you can take as little or as much as you like from your yoga practice to meet your needs at that moment in time.

We’re often asked if Sitayana is a type or style of yoga. It is neither. The ancient yogic texts, known as “Vedas” date back to 2000 BC and were written in an ancient language called Sanskrit. This is still used today to describe the traditional names of yogic practices. The word “sitayana” follows this tradition as it is a Sanskrit word which means “journey of thoughts”. This represents the journey that we take during our yoga practice and also off the mat in our day to day lives. This journey can be brief, related to a particular event or situation, or it can be a lifelong journey of spiritual and personal development. We just hope you enjoy your journey as much as we do.

If yoga isn’t your thing then why not take a look at what else we offer...

Why not treat yourself for the New Year and try an Indian head massage? Massage not only relaxes and de-stresses you, but it also encourages the body’s natural healing ability. If you’re new to massage, then a half hour Indian head massage is a great way to introduce you to it. You can find out more information on my new Therapies page.

If you’d like some time to unwind and chill out, why not come along to our dedicated relaxation sessions. We will guide you through a deep relaxation for an hour, to leave you feeling calm and peaceful, yet full of energy. A real power nap!

For those of you who have another one on board, we offer Yoga for Pregnancy classes dedicated entirely to pregnant women. These combine yoga based movement, breathing practices and relaxation techniques to support you throughout your pregnancy, whilst providing you with an environment to meet other pregnant women, make friends and share your journey.

We’re always interested to hear your views on what you’d like for the future, so if you have any suggestions do get in touch and we’ll see what we can do. We look forward to hearing from you and being part of your journey.
